About the DEP

The Department of Political Studies was created as our Foundation’s contribution to political dialogue and debate, in order to raise the country’s level of political analysis through constructive, systematic, in-depth, well-documented, long-term perspective studies.

Its mission is to solidly contribute to the strengthening of El Salvador’s democratic system, framed within FUSADES’ principles of autonomy and objectivity.

The initiative of founding the DEP was unveiled in 2009 as FUSADES’ commitment to further strengthen the democratic process, set in a challenging context for both El Salvador and the region as a whole.
